A complex system solution provider
MES has been widely recognised within the UK maritime sector as a competent solutions provider for more complex systems within the field of navigation and communications. Therefore, as a spin off to our system integration work we have been commissioned to provide design and consultancy services to several large organisations including governmental departments and multi-national companies. Such work could include assisting ship designers with specifications, or on site surveys with a view to upgrading systems.
Some examples are as follows:
MES was contracted by BAE Systems Surface Ships Ltd to provide design and consultancy services for the mid-life update of the Royal Navy River Class Offshore Patrol Vessels navigation and communications outfit.
MES has recently provided design and consultancy services via the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) Cluster Support Organisation for vessel upgrades and refits including:-
Integrating Warship ECDIS on legacy platforms (4 classes of vessel)
Bridge updates/refits for the Wave and Fort Class
Gyro and gyro distribution system replacement on RFA Argus, RFA Fort Rosalie and RFA Fort Austin
Internal communications upgrades on RFA Bay and Wave Classes
MES is currently completing the design phase for the Navigation and Communications outfit for HMS Forth, HMS Medway and HMS Trent.
